Smart and well-founded, not blind trust is the basis of our entire corporate culture: towards our employees, our suppliers and business partners, our customers and guests and, last but not least, towards our cooperation partners, whom we would like to introduce here.
We trust in their expertise and their integrity. We learn from each other and we support each other in our work for a future worth living for humans and animals on our planet. Together, we show every day that we are successful as “pioneers of change”, not despite, but precisely because we are doing something meaningful and sustainable.
"We are in business to save our home planet"
said Patagonia founder Yvon Chouinard aptly.
So are we and our cooperation partners. Support us in this!
Lebenshof Narr
“Because our world will one day be a better place if more and more fools stand up for courageous change, we work for the future with our hands, hearts and minds” (from the Hof Narr association’s activity report, September 2022, p.4).
The work of Hof Narr primarily covers the following areas:
- Hof Narr is a living farm supported by a non-profit association. There are currently 100 rescued animals living on the farm, whose upkeep is ensured by the association and through sponsorships, which we warmly recommend as a gift idea. Link to our sponsorship page
- Hof Narr does great public relations work. In the form of impressive videos on YouTube and Instagram, farm lessons for school classes brochure link to download, exciting farm tours for companies or private events, culinary festivals, concerts, lectures, film screenings, often combined with a delicious organic vegan meal and and and ….
- Hoff Narr runs “TransFARMation” – What a great neologism from the fools! To date, Sarah Heiligtag has supported and advised over 125 farms in the area in their transition to animal-free farming. Here, too, you can see how an ever greater leverage effect is unfolding because the time is ripe for it: there is now a waiting list for advice! What exactly is meant by this is best explained by her in her charming Schwyzerdütsch (Swiss German) link to the movie see transfarmation definition on the homepage or in perfect English. link see directly below
- Hoff Narr is also a self-sustaining organic vegan vegetable and fruit farm with direct marketing in its own farm store, to restaurants and in the form of vegetable subscriptions to over 60 households.
Since our company outing in 2023, we have been sworn fans of Hof Narr, Sarah Heiligtag, the other dedicated makers and the animals living there. They inspire us all anew every day to stand up for the peaceful coexistence of all living beings on earth at VOGLHAUS and to believe that this change is possible and deeply satisfying here and now.
For the Voglschar, however, Hof Narr is above all a place where you can get in touch with your feelings for our animal and human fellow creatures in a wonderful way. 😊 So let’s go to the fools!!!!!!

Mellifera
Since our company outing to Mellifera a few years ago, we have also supported the work of Mellifera by selling their honey in our department store, because we learned then that the European honey bee can no longer exist today without responsible beekeepers. Bees can no longer fight the Varroa mite without responsible beekeeping help and there are too few natural nesting possibilities. We therefore see no contradiction to animal welfare, which is the central motivation of VOGLHAUS, in exclusively using honey from DEMETER husbandry.
The registered association based in the Black Forest has been a pioneer in research into ecological and humane beekeeping since 1986. Both beekeeping practice and the care of the bee’s habitat (lat. Apis Mellifera, the honey-bearing bee) are at the center of research and teaching. The association conveys its knowledge to the public through beekeeper training, information for farmers, events at schools and, last but not least, the wonderful idea of “bee sponsorship”.

Bees
Particularly noteworthy are
- The initiative for humane beekeeping: an educational and experimental apiary is operated.
- The Flowering Landscapes Network supports the preservation of biodiversity. There are wonderful seed mixtures to order that are tailored to the specific locations.
- Bees go to school offers a platform for teachers, among others.
- The Alliance for the Protection of Bees is a cooperation with the Aurelia Foundation in Berlin, which advises the EU on bans on pesticides that are harmful to bees.
- The bee box is intended to encourage people to keep bees themselves. As there is very little interference with the natural life of the bees, this is a very species-appropriate way of keeping bees.
Yes to the protection of dogs abroad.
No to the burden on the German animal welfare system.
We would like to encourage you to sponsor the dogs in the four Romanian animal shelters as a gift or to adopt them yourself. From the many great sponsorship options, we would particularly like to recommend the new “birthday donation campaign“, which we would like to link directly to the birthday campaign here, as even small amounts can make a big and meaningful difference. Instead of the embarrassment gift, you can contribute 10 euros or more to the birthday child’s individual donation pool. What a great way to bring joy to the birthday child and the dogs!
At VOGLHAUS, we support ProDogRomania with a permanent donation, donation boxes and public relations work.
ProDog Romania e.V.
ProDogRomania is a registered non-profit organization that aims to protect the lives and quality of life of approximately 4,500 dogs in four animal shelters in southwestern Romania. Donations benefit the animals one-to-one, as we work exclusively with volunteers.
Dogs in Romania usually live on the streets with (!) or without owners, multiply uncontrollably and are constantly caught by dog catchers and brought to the animal shelter, where they sometimes have to spend their lives in miserable conditions.
ProDogRomania fights against the killing of dogs by the municipalities and in return takes over the castration and care of the animals with water, food, basic medical care and vaccinations and tries to place as many as possible abroad.
The castration of dogs is the basis of the work in the foreign animal protection, because no more dogs should be born into a desolate life without care and hope. The acceptance of dogs in the population also increases when there are fewer strays on the streets. Romania is a poor country and needs support from abroad.
The dogs are placed directly for adoption or in experienced foster homes that prepare the dogs for a life in a family.
Since many German animal shelters are unfortunately also full to the brim after corona, animal protection abroad must not be an additional burden for them. Many animal welfare organizations recognize that sustainable and sensibly structured animal welfare abroad does not represent competition. In order to make this idea heard, ProDogRomania founded the “Alliance for the “Alliance for sustainable animal welfare abroad for dogs” into being.
Albert Schweitzer Foundation for our environment
Every day, 60,000 male chicks hatch in this hatchery in Holland and are sorted out to be gassed. The chicken on the death treadmill is from the series “Precious Animals”, a photo project by Dutch photographer and filmmaker Jan van IJkenwhich examines the relationship between humans and animals.
The vision
A world in which no animal suffers for the production of food.
The mission
Working together to raise animal welfare standards, reduce the consumption of animal products and spread the vegan idea.

Four fields of activity
ProVeg informs the public about the problems caused by the consumption of animal products.
ProVeg organizes trade fairs such as “VeggieWorld” or “VegMed”, Europe’s largest medical conference on plant-based nutrition, and thus networks the veggie sector.
ProVeg advises food retailers, community restaurants and schools, among others.
ProVeg represents the potential of plant-based foods for solutions in the problem areas of animal welfare, environmental, climate and resource protection to politicians.

"Over the past few years, foodwatch has managed to make nutrition into a political issue. But: The food system as a We have not succeeded in improving the overall situation. Much remains to be done - a international consumer organization in Europe is more important than ever."
Thilo Bode, foodwatch founder
What does foodwatch want?
- That everyone has enough to eat and can afford a balanced diet.
- That food does not endanger the health of consumers.
- That consumers have a say in what they eat and know what is in the food.
- That the industry stops misleadingly advertising its products with false promises.
- That consumers use their power: As long as we don’t fight back together, the food industry will have the upper hand.
- That laws protect the rights of consumers – and not one-sidedly those of the industry.

Consumers have decided – and voted the sugary Alete Obsties the most audacious advertising lie of the year by a large majority. This is the third time that Alete has won the foodwatch negative award.
Since 2010, foodwatch has been awarding the “Golden Windbag”, the negative prize for the most audacious advertising lie of the year. DAS VOGLHAUS donates a small regular amount to the valuable work of foodwatch and reports on the work on our blog.
Foodwatch exposes the anti-consumer practices of the food industry and fights for the right of consumers to good quality, safe and honest food. Foodwatch is a non-profit organization and is independent of the food industry as well as state and EU funds. This important work is only possible because people support it.
We don’t decide for ourselves what we eat. The individual consumer has to watch powerlessly as the food industry dictates the rules of the game to politicians. Lobbyists determine what ends up on our plates. And what we can know about our food. This will only end when we consumers unite and fight for our rights.
